NILZA COSTA QUARTET (Jazz im Brunnenhof, Trier on August 11th, 2022)

Nilza N Costa: That was one of the best concerts of my life! Only 3 to 4 times in 26 years in Trier have I experienced this miracle here: Suddenly 80% of the people, whether old, young or severely disabled, stand up and dance like mad for almost 3 hours! The Porta Nigra has become a real nightclub! To be honest, when do Germans get up to dance? Hardly ever! So chapeau, Nilza and her quartet! In her songs one experiences “African rhythms and traditional Brazilian folk art, which combines religious, dance and musical influences, such as candomblé, capoeira, samba and maculelê. She sings in Yoruba, the language that was brought to Brazil from Nigeria during the slavery period in the 16th century and is still spoken thereBRAVO! CHAPEAU! I hope you’ll be coming here again!”
